Fire ants build mounds in sunny lawns, sting when disturbed and can damage equipment and plants. Armyworms and sod webworms are caterpillars that chew grass blades, often in late summer, leaving ragged brown patches that look like drought. Both are easy to miss until damage is obvious, and both respond to the right treatment applied promptly.
We control fire ants and armyworms across Middle Tennessee, in Nashville yards and on larger properties. We find mounds and treat them with baits and mound drenches, scout for caterpillars with a soapy water flush and apply a labeled insecticide where they are found.
