Fertilization & Turf Health

Soil testing and pH correction in Middle Tennessee: know what your soil lacks and fix pH so fertilizer and turf can do their job

Soil Testing & pH Correction

Soil pH controls how well turf can use the nutrients in the ground. Many Tennessee soils are acidic and clay-heavy, and an acidic soil locks up nutrients and favors certain weeds. A soil test measures pH and key nutrients and tells you exactly how much lime or fertilizer to apply. It is the most useful single step before starting a program.

We take soil samples across Middle Tennessee, from lawns in Nashville to farms and large properties. We sample properly across the lawn, send the sample for lab analysis, read the results with you and build a correction plan that covers lime, fertilizer and any soil conditioning that the results call for.

FAQ

Common questions about soil testing & ph

How often should I test my soil?

Every two to three years is common, or whenever problems persist.

What pH should my lawn have?

Most turf grows well in a slightly acidic to neutral range. The test tells us how far yours is from that.

Can I just guess and add lime?

It is better to test. Too much lime causes its own problems.
